The surprise that surprised us all

Saturday March 7th. My mum's 65th birthday today.

And of course we are planning on celebrating that! Too special not to.

I woke her at 7am and sang for her. Gave her a cup of tea in bed which was covered in balloons I had blown up earlier.

Mum also received a phone call from Anita, her cousin who spent many years living in New Zealand and now has returned home to live in Nederland.

We had been informed earlier to be in the breakfast lounge at 9am but apparently this was to be in the foyer.
We were to wait in the foyer between 9 and 9:15 for a surprise. So we did.

Poor mum, she got so nervous and worried. She didn't know what to expect. Nor did I for that matter.

SURPRISE....!! 

Who walked in? Ben and Daphne, cousin Christa AND Anita!!
Well I never....!!

After we all recovered we went for breakfast at Esquires along the water front.
Meanwhile there Ben helped us with our phones. That needed expert advice, which he gave,

It was heartwarming to have family present on this special day for mum.


After Ben and Daphne left we went for a city stroll and chat with Anita and Christa.
Who would have thought it...Anita here in New Zealand while we thought her to be at home in Dordrecht.

What a wonderful and exciting day we had.

Later that afternoon we met the fellow travelers we were going on our tour with. There are 48 participants in all including 4 dutch.

We leave in the morning.
