We slept well and woke round 8:30am. My single bed was very comfortable and mum slept well too in the double bed.
Today we aim to give Te Awamutu the 'once over' and see whether there are any recognisable places for mum inTe Awamutu since she left.

We go in search for breakfast and end up in the Empire Espresso and Eatery. We enjoy a warm croissant with ham and cheese and of course the accompanying cup of tea. It is a very comfortable and pleasant place and we aren't alone - there are more customers enjoying the food and drinks here.
Off to discover the area where our house used to be. We walk to Mahoe Street. And there it is - the house in which we lived the short time I was in New Zealand after my birth.
We decide we want a closer look and go up to the house. No-one appears home. A real pity. The neighbour sees us taking photos and looking round- She informs us that the owner in question works for the Realty office in Te Awamutu - so off we went in search of her.
The office staff were wonderful The lady herself seemed out so they tried tracing her- but no response. What a pity- never mind. They tried. It just wasn't meant to be.

They took a photo of mum and I and we left our calling card.
After this we walked on to the Rose Garden. One of the trademarks of Te Awamutu.
Despite the long hot summer, the gardens look lovely.

We shopped some, walked some, had a coffee and snack.
After a wee walk we ended up back at the motel. While sitting on our little terrace we enjoy the evening sun. So relaxing.
Morgen weer terug naar Auckland met de bus.
Onze reis verloopt zo geweldig. Ik kan niet anders zeggen.
