Our first appointment with Sandra

15 October 2013 - time for our first meeting with Sandra.

In the process of planning- our first visit to
Sandra at the travel agency.

Seeing our time is limited we are only going to visit the North Island. The main focus is Te Awamutu and surrounding area- but also to see some of the natural beauty of New Zealand. We also hope that we manage to catch up with the relations who live in New Zealand. Mum has 2 brothers and 1 sister there and I not only have aunts and uncles but also cousins whom I have never met. It will be a challenge to get as much into or planning and get the most out of our 3 weeks journey.

My family ( 2 sons and my husband) have convinced me they will be able to cope. Monday chips, Tuesday pancakes, Wednesday pizza, Thursday Chinees, Friday fried egg on toast, and he assured me he would keep it simple on the weekends - hahaaha! Now I am truly relaxed.

My boss thankfully co-operated too. I have managed to get 3 weeks leave. I work in a butchery 30 hours p.w.

Sandra, our contact at the travel Agency has promised to assist us with all our planning by doing the necessary research.

We came home with brochures from AATKINGS; Northern Spotlight Discovery and  Northern Wonders. The area and it's contents intrigued us. The fact that this was an 8 day tour also appealed.

One of the preparations for this trip of a life time- is making a BLOG. This record will not only serve mum and me as a reminder of our adventure but also keep my family in touch with my comings and goings. My mum's cousin Anita is helping me get started and will translate the dutch blogs into English for my English reading family and friends.

I have to say, that at this stage my mind ( and conversations) are full of NZ. It occasionally drives everyone crazy. March 2015- Oh dear what a long wait.....!!

I am happy to say my wee men keep telling me " mum, we will be fine, you go and have a great time" which brings tears to my eyes- oh so sweet. I am sure I will miss them.

Via Skype we will be able to occasionally get in touch- and that's also why this BLOG is so important. I will be able to write up my journal for them to read.

My email box is full of messages to and fro with and from Sandra. Mum and I are on top of things and discuss every move together. We have decided to do the Northern Tour a couple of days after arrival. Gives us time to acclimatise and get the feel of New Zealand.

Our folders and Internet research information is neatly stored in a ringbinder to keep a well documented record. Handy to use when planning and researching. I have come to realise I need to brush up my English as that is not one of my strong points.
