The dates have been entered into our diaries!

Finally- the departure and return dates are known.

Het lang verwachte telefoontje......

I had arranged to be at Veronique's place round 10:30. As it happened I was somewhat delayed and arrived a wee bit later than planned.

We reminisced about the previous Sunday  and all we had learned. It was lunchtime- Ruud, Veronique's son and a classmate Kim, arrived home for their lunch break- quite normal ( traditional) for children in the Netherlands to come home for their lunch. After lunch Veronique and I went shopping in Raamsdonkveer - a township next to Geertruidenberg where Veronique lives.

After school when Leo also returned home we had afternoon tea. Leo and I also went shopping for some bits and bobs. Love visiting with my grandsons. Leo enjoys helping in the kitchen and while he and Veronique started on dinner my phone went.

It was Sandra. She had received the dates for our flight.


We depart Schiphol Airport 3rd March 2015 and leave from Auckland Airport 25th.

Now that those dates are known, we felt a sense of relief. The uncertainty of it all had bothered us more than we realised.

The trip is now secured, payments made. Now to save and fill our piggy banks so we can realise our dream and do the things that happen on our way!
