Forty years on........

Forty years ago today I was born in Te Awamutu New Zealand. A good reason to celebrate!

I thought it also a good opportunity to write another piece in our travel blog. Mum and I are slowly but surely seeing our plans take firm shape.

We also received our revised travel itinerary last week as we added another hotel stay over for our last night in Auckland before flying home.

We will be staying at the Amora Hotel - just to gather our wits and catch our breath before returning to Nederland and our loved ones.

In the papers we received we saw the seating arrangements - so to silence our curiosity, we checked online to see where we were placed on the plane.

A unexpected but absolutely wonderful surprise gift - from my brother in law Patrick and sister in law Gerda - brand spanking new tramping boots! I feel very spoilt and extremely grateful. Thank you guys.

Our excitement is mounting - and the date keeps on creeping gently closer!

Vandaag is het weer 40 jaar geleden dat ik geboren ben in Te Awamutu.

En dacht, dat is toch leuk om weer eens een stukje te schrijven op onze Blog.

We hebben weer nieuwe reispapieren gekregen vorige week.
Dit omdat wij nog 1 overnachting hebben bijgeboekt in Auckland.

Amora Hotel

Een stukje rust voor Mam en mezelf.
We verblijven dan in Auckland in het Amora Hotel om onze laatste nacht daar door te brengen.
Op woensdag 25 maart te vertrekken terug naar huis, naar Nederland.

Singapore Airlines.

Ook hebben we bij de nieuwe reispapieren de stoelnummers ontdekt. Dus, gelijk op Google zoeken waar we komen te zitten op onze heen en terugreis

Daarbij ben ik ook nog eens SUPER blij gemaakt door mijn zwager Patrick en schoonzus Gerda met WANDELSCHOENEN voor de grote reis naar New Zealand.

A visit to Te Awamutu - my place of origin

Time flies - whether you are having fun or not. In my case - I am having fun. Preparation fun. So is mum. The days are melting away and we are getting more and more excited as our departure date nears.

Six months from now mum and I head " Down Under' to Aotearoa - New Zealand.

1974

Up to now we have written about our flight, gear we acquired, itinerary of our 7 day tour in the North Island, ending in Wellington. After which we stay with Trees and Wim, my aunt and uncle and mum's sister and brother- in -law.

This next part of our adventure takes us to Te Awamutu where my life's story began. We have made arrangements for our time spent there.

2014

Mum has contacted the owners of a motel -  Rosetown Motel. The lady owner, Cheryl, has provided us with the relevant information, reserved a room for 2 nights and sent photos and a lovely email which has already made us feel welcome before we even arrive. 

Not only did Cheryl provide photos of the motel, she is also going to send us a photo of the house we lived in during our time in Te Awamutu. 

So after leaving Waikanae we travel to Te Awamutu for two nights and will use that time to (re) discover the surroundings of this rural community.

Just a wee bit of information about Te Awamutu:

Te Awamutu is also know as Rosetown.

Over een half jaar precies vertrekken mam en ik naar -

Aotearoa - New Zealand  

YES!

Tot nu toe hebben we de 7 daagse bustour door het Noorder eiland beschreven op de blog, en daarna dat we naar Trees en Wim gaan in Waikanae New Zealand.


We zijn alweer een stapje veder in onze reis door New Zealand.

Mam en ik waren opzoek naar een motel en natuurlijk het liefs in mijn geboorte plaats Te Awamutu.
waar we gewoond hebben.

En dat hebben we gevonden, in het plaatsje Te Awamutu hebben we een Motel gevonden.

Mam heeft steeds mail contact met Cheryl waarvan het Motel is.

En zij heeft deze 2 foto's doorgestuurd zodat ze op onze Blog mochten.


Zo lief, ze gaan nog een foto voor ons maken van het huis waar we gewoond hebben hoe het er nu uitziet.


Er is een motel kamer- studio appartement dinsdag 17 t/m donderdag 19 maart een studio voor ons gereserveerd.

Even een weetje: Te Awamutu staat ook bekend als Rosetown.
